Solar Water Heating Technology
Making every degree count.
Solar water heating technology makes effective use of the sun’s thermal energy to deliver dependable hot water while reducing conventional electricity consumption. Modern systems serve residential, commercial and industrial applications, offering flexible solutions for different hot water demands.
From compact roof-mounted installations to larger integrated heating systems, these technologies combine efficient solar heat collection with reliable thermal storage. As a result, they offer practical ways to improve energy efficiency and reduce long-term operating costs.
Together, they turn solar potential into lasting energy value
Roof-Mounted Solar Water Heating Technology
Passive circulation · Solar heat collection · Insulated storage · Optional electric boost
Roof-mounted solar water heating systems combine solar thermal collectors and insulated hot water storage in a compact, close-coupled arrangement. Heat absorbed by the collectors circulates naturally towards the elevated storage tank through the thermosiphon principle, without requiring an electric circulation pump.
These systems use solar energy to heat water for everyday use, reducing the need for conventional electrical heating. Where fitted, an electric booster provides supplementary heating during periods of limited sunshine or higher demand.
Our technology comprises of:
- Solar Thermal Collectors
- Flat-plate collectors absorb solar radiation and transfer heat to water or a compatible heat-transfer fluid circulating through the system.
- Insulated Hot Water Storage
- An elevated, insulated tank stores solar-heated water and helps limit heat losses before distribution to the building.
- Thermosiphon Circulation & Pipework
- Connecting pipes support natural circulation between the collectors and storage tank as temperature differences develop.
- Roof Mounting & Safety Equipment
- Structural supports, pipe insulation, pressure controls and appropriate safety valves support secure installation and safe operation.
- Electric Boosting — Optional
- An integrated electric heating element and thermostat can provide supplementary heat when solar input is insufficient, on supported models.
Key advantages
- Passive thermosiphon circulation eliminates the need for a solar circulation pump in suitable configurations.
- Reduces conventional electricity consumption for water heating.
- Compact arrangement combines solar collection and storage.
- Insulated storage helps retain collected heat.
- Optional electric boosting supports hot water requirements during periods of low solar input.

Split & Ground-Mounted Solar Water Heating Systems
Flexible positioning · Scalable collector arrays · Centralised storage · Controlled circulation
Split and ground-mounted solar heating systems offer flexible positioning of solar collectors and insulated storage tanks. Suitable for roof or ground installations, these configurations accommodate larger hot water demands and integrate with existing building infrastructure.
In pumped split systems, controlled circulation transfers solar heat to storage, either directly or through a heat exchanger. This arrangement allows collectors and storage to be positioned separately, improving installation flexibility and maintenance access.
Our technology comprises of:
- Solar Thermal Collector Arrays
- Flat-plate solar collectors capture solar heat. Multiple collectors can be combined to meet the required thermal output.
- Insulated Thermal Storage Tanks
- Separately positioned tanks retain heated water and accommodate the storage volume required by the application.
- Circulation Pumps & Controllers
- In pumped systems, circulation equipment and temperature sensors regulate heat transfer between collectors and storage.
- Heat Exchangers — Where Required
- Indirect systems transfer energy from a separate collector fluid circuit into domestic or process water without mixing the fluids.
- Hydraulic Distribution & Protection
- Insulated pipework, valves, expansion provisions and safety devices support the required circulation, water pressure and temperature control.
- Supplementary Heating
- Compatible electric or other auxiliary heating equipment can supplement solar energy where additional hot water heating is required.
Key advantages
- Flexible placement of collectors and storage equipment.
- Scalable collector arrays and storage capacity for larger hot water demand.
- Centralised equipment arrangements support maintenance access.
- Controlled circulation enables heat transfer between separated system components.
- Compatibility with existing hot water infrastructure, subject to engineering requirements.
